Through a unique formula and process, DuPont mixed PMMA with other additives and polymerized them under high temperature and pressure, successfully manufacturing artificial stone sheets with a smooth, non-porous surface and rich colors. Once launched, Corian quickly gained widespread attention in the market due to its excellent performance and novel appearance and was applied to the decoration of high-end commercial spaces and luxury residences.
Since then, with the continuous progress of technology and the growth of market demand, acrylic solid surface has entered a stage of rapid development. From the 1980s to the 1990s, more and more enterprises joined the research, development, and production of acrylic solid surface, and the competition in the industry became increasingly fierce. Each enterprise continuously improved the production process and optimized the product formula to enhance the performance of acrylic solid surface and reduce costs. For example, in terms of the formula, by adjusting the ratio of acrylic resin to fillers and adding special additives, the hardness, toughness, scratch resistance, and other properties of artificial stone have been significantly improved. For example, the use of environmentally friendly resins and non-toxic and harmless fillers makes acrylic solid surface more environmentally friendly during the production and use process. By adding nanoscale antibacterial agents, artificial stone is endowed with good antibacterial functions, suitable for places with high hygiene requirements, such as hospitals and food processing plants. In terms of fire resistance, through special flame retardant treatment, it can meet the corresponding fire protection standards, expanding the application fields.

In the field of art creation, its rich colors and plasticity have made it a new favorite of artists for creating sculptures and installation art, bringing unique visual effects and textures to artworks.
